Each name opens that service’s skip, pause and cancel steps. The planner works out the cutoff for your delivery date where the service’s rule allows one, and makes a weekly calendar reminder.
Memberships. Blue Apron+ costs $9.99 a month and includes shipping, which is otherwise $11.49 an order. It pays for itself from one order a month; in a month with no order you pay it for nothing. Prices checked 17 Oct 2026 on Blue Apron’s own page. The membership sends no boxes; it renews automatically, and its 30-day free trial becomes a paid membership unless you cancel before the trial ends (Blue Apron’s terms and membership page, checked 10 Oct 2026).
UnityPass, CookUnity’s optional membership, costs $23.99 plus tax every 28 days and needs an active CookUnity plan. It drops the delivery fee ($9.99 or $11.99 an order, depending on your ZIP code) and covers up to three premium meals an order at the standard meal price. CookUnity says it pays for itself in two orders; on the delivery fee alone it takes three orders in those 28 days, and weekly deliveries make four. CookUnity is offering it to accounts gradually, so yours may not show it yet. It renews every 28 days until you pause or cancel it. Prices checked 13 Oct 2026 on CookUnity’s own page.
How much notice each service needs
The cutoff is the notice a service needs before each box: a skip or a cancellation made after it does not count for that delivery. Daily Harvest needs the least, three days before the estimated delivery day; CookUnity needs four to six days, HelloFresh, EveryPlate, Green Chef and Factor five, and Marley Spoon and Dinnerly six to seven. Sunbasket, Gobble and Purple Carrot each set a weekday and a time in the week before delivery, and Home Chef noon on the Friday before the delivery week. Blue Apron and Splendid Spoon give no fixed number: the date your account shows for each delivery decides. The table above gives each rule in full, and the skip, pause or cancel planner works out the date for your delivery.
Start with the ongoing bill
Your normal delivery total is the food subtotal before promotions, plus shipping, mandatory fees and tax. A price advertised “per serving” may describe a particular large box or an introductory offer. It does not establish the total for your household.
Copy the values from the current cart into the meal-kit cost calculator. If a charge is still missing, leave it blank; the calculator withholds the total until the required subtotal, shipping and fees are entered. Enter zero only when the cart shows no charge. A blank tax field produces an estimate excluding tax.
The first box is a separate number
For a worked example, food at $80 plus $10 shipping and no other charges makes an ongoing delivery $90 before tax. A $30 first-delivery discount makes the first box $60. The next four equivalent ongoing deliveries still cost $360, not $240.
If an offer spreads discounts over several boxes, enter each delivery’s discount separately. A headline “save up to” amount is not necessarily the discount on the first box. The calculator shows first delivery, four ongoing deliveries and four deliveries with your entered discounts as separate results.
Four deliveries are not a calendar month. A weekly schedule can produce four or five deliveries in a month; a skipped week or an every-other-week schedule changes that again. Keep the unit as deliveries when comparing.
Plan the last safe time to change a delivery, with calculated dates only where the published rule is unambiguous.
The deadline comes before the doorstep

HelloFresh uses the abbreviation PST without clarifying daylight-saving handling. Factor’s current official pages disagree between PST and Central Time. Use the deadline shown on the upcoming order for those services; the planner does not invent a shared Pacific timestamp.
Dinnerly and Marley Spoon use a location-dependent six- to seven-day cutoff. CookUnity’s deadline is four to six days before delivery at noon, depending on location. Home Chef publishes Friday noon CST for edits, without mapping every delivery date to a particular Friday. Sunbasket uses Wednesday at noon Pacific, or 3 PM Eastern. Put your selected service’s actual deadline in your calendar before placing an order you might change.
For Splendid Spoon, the deadline is 11:59 PM Eastern on the “edit by” date your account shows for the next delivery, which its help page says depends on your location, delivery day and first order; its terms give 4 PM Eastern on the Thursday before a Wednesday delivery or the Sunday before a Friday one. Blue Apron’s processing or shipped orders cannot be canceled. Open that service’s page for the cutoff and the consequence together.
Skip, pause and cancel do different jobs
A skip removes a selected delivery. A pause is a longer break that may resume automatically. Sunbasket allows a pause up to 12 weeks and CookUnity up to eight. Dinnerly lets you schedule skips eight weeks ahead; that is a scheduling window, not the same promise as a continuous pause.
Canceling stops future subscription orders according to the service’s rules, but a locked or processed order may still be charged and delivered. Splendid Spoon can attach a multi-week initial commitment to some plans, restricting cancellation while allowing skips. Blue Apron’s autoship can be canceled and later re-enrolled instead of paused.
Ordering once means picking the one-time option
These services may also sell recurring plans. Pick the one-time option if you don’t want a subscription, and use the matcher’s one-time filter when you also need an exact box size.
