The table covers the services compared on this site whose own pages confirm plant-based dishes, as a whole menu or as labels on a mixed one. Another service may still have meat-free dishes in a given week: its weekly menu shows them. Every box that fits your household with this label.

A whole menu, or some dishes on it

At Purple Carrot and Splendid Spoon every dish is plant-based, so any box you choose meets that preference; its size, its allergens and, at Splendid Spoon, how many items are dinners still need checking. At HelloFresh and Green Chef the plant-based recipes are part of a larger weekly menu, and their number changes from week to week. A box of three recipes needs three plant-based recipes on that week’s menu, so open the menu for your delivery week before you sign up.

Cook it, or heat it

Purple Carrot sells kits as three recipes for two or two recipes for four, and Ready to Eat meals in boxes of six. Splendid Spoon sells only prepared meals and drinks, in plans of 6, 12 or 18 items; a drink counts as an item, so count the dinners you will actually get. HelloFresh and Green Chef are kits you cook, for two, four or six people (HelloFresh also for three).

Plant-based, vegan and what is in the recipe

The makers use “plant-based” for dishes made without meat, fish, dairy or eggs. If you also avoid honey or other animal-derived ingredients, read each recipe’s ingredient list on the maker’s menu: a label describes the dish, not every ingredient choice.

A label is not an allergy guarantee

A plant-based label says nothing about nuts, soy, gluten or sesame. Splendid Spoon’s terms say major allergens are handled in some of its facilities and cross-contact may occur. For an allergy, check each recipe’s ingredients and allergen statement with the maker: what a menu label can and cannot tell you.
